Humans have bad habits of driving off off cliffs because they don't want to learn not to.
America can not afford to self-destruct.
But Hurricane Harvey means that we need to 1) leave dinosaurs in the ground 2) count more than cash to leave dinosaurs in the ground and also 3) shift to free, infinite, renewing, cleansing 100% Renewable Energy, (eg Solar & Wind Inverse to Each Other, Geothermal, Gravity, Pendulumation, Biofuels, Imagination, Smarter/Greener Cities, Massive Waste Reduction)....100% RE 100% doable by 2030 (IRENA 2016) by 2015 (100.org 2015)....to lower rogue climate carbons of by for the last 150 years of fossilized human industrialization of earth, of by for a cash-driven Reaganomics of the last 40 years crushing us.
The next step is just as important, 4) converting impermeable heat islands such as dying urban cores into absorbent, green watersheds to absorb rogue deadly artificial climate carbons into living carbons such as wood and leaves and photosynthesis to accelerate the lowering of carbon levels in our fragile but critical atmosphere/climate/air on earth. Going to another planet as an excuse to kill earth is not an option, Folks.
After the flood of 2008 that consumed my family's home....my camera and I documented the Clear Creek Watershed above our house....to discover what causes flooding/increases risks of flooding....and what prevents flooding.
The answer was very simple:
* green absorbent watersheds of native photosynthetic ecosystems of deep roots and tall canopies prevent flooding....
* impermeable harsh urban/desertified surfaces cause flooding.....as humans crush and destroy fragile but critical complex living photosynthetic systems to rip away the critical infrastructures we need to slow and stop and filter and cool precipitation and runoff....and to recharge our hungry aquifers and whole water cycles...hidden from most.
America needs to grow and heal our dying green photosynthetic worlds of nature, of life enough to heal a broken world please.
We can start by
1) protecting our public lands of green photosynthesis of nature's wonders far from the obvious/privatized/shorytsighted cashflow floods......public lands of nature, of the divine such as "national monuments" "national parks" "national forests" wetlands, praises and the many state and county and private lands that produce critical but uncountable flows and a cycles of light, energy of the sun, air o2, water h2o, green photosynthesis that still have the integrated, inalienable integrity, fragile but critical green photosynthesis and complex root and canopy systems of nature's genius enough to stop rapid runoff causing floods, droughts, desertification, extreme events such as supermegastorms, Harvey and costs and consequences of the cash-driven blinded hoards....
2) convert our dying, impermeable cities and deserts and surfaces on earth ....such as rooftops and parking lots and lawns into multistory green, absorbent watersheds instead, green photosynthesis of native, growing, green, absorbent photosynthesis and soil+makers to cleanse and cool and recharge/renew/rennovate our dying cities please...to filter air and cool air and buffer air/water/life systems enough to activate dying air cycles, dying water cycles, dying life cycles enough to produce enough oxygen as O2 for humans to breathe minute to minute...to filter and produce enough water as H2O to drink day to day....to produce and nurture enough topsoil production and soil+makers .....such as with urban compost systems in the city combined with green wilderness & watersheds in the city ...to cleanse and cool and renew our urban cores and deserts.....to dedesertify dying lands.....enough to grow heaven on earth instead please. Why do we need to crush life and logic to profit?
We need to redefine our word "eco+nomic" as more than mechanical rates of private/immediate/obvious/cash-driven cashflow floods that crush life and logic on earth please.....but that counts also private/public/lifeweb outcomes both now and generations from now and more...
I thought the word, "eco+nomic" meant the process of enabling human cities to survive.....not to self-destruct. Our word root "eco-" as in "eco+nomic" as in (balancing) name and number means "house" or "oikos" (~eco) in Greek......but not every house nurtures those within.
Some houses crush and destroy those within....assuming erroneously in very flat, linear, crushing walls that they need to 1) take from the many to get for the private self....2) push the other down to lift the private self up.....and that 3) privatized cash profiteering justifies all, blinding the self to outcomes of actions.
But they are wrong, very, very wrong, wrong scientifically, wrong mathematically, wrong eco+nomically, wrong eco+logically, wrong EGO+nomically, wrong morally and often wrong legally....still rewriting human books and electrons of human history, human science, human law to sell the immoral as fact to profit privately of by for only one private self of by for only one obvious now stuck in the linear, flat walls that block access to freedom.
Humans need to learn to count more than mechanical rates of empty numbers....because I can cut an apple into 1000 unsatisfying pieces that rot right away.....but it is still only one apple.
It would have satisfied my needs, wants, desires, dreams more If I had not wasted time, energy, money of rates slicing it into unusable pieces, wasting the apple that's now rotting, filling up a costly landfill.
